Strength University was founded by owner Derek Kress in 2015 out of a 200 sq. ft. garage in Kirkland, Washington. The gym consisted of two squat stands, two barbells and various amount of kettle bells. Any overhead pressing movements had to be done outside since the ceiling was too low. This made Derek extend the gym to the outside utilizing a tent when it rained.
Within a year, membership outgrew the garage and Strength University moved to it's current location in Bothell, Washington. At 1100 sq. ft. the new gym consists of three power racks, eight olympic lifting platforms, one glute ham developer, various weightlifting, powerlifting and specialty bars, and lots of bumper and iron plates to get any type of lifting done.
